Ohr Ki Tov is guided by its Founder and Director, Rabbi Joel Dinnerstein,
the first Rabbi to be a Certified Addiction Counselor. Reb Yankel,as he is
called in recovery circles is a recognized international authority of alcoholism and addiction in the Jewish
Community.
He is best known for his pioneering efforts on behalf of Jews in
trouble: Jewish Alcoholics and Addicts, Jewish Prison Inmates, the Jewish
Poor and Homeless.
Reb Yankel
graduated first in his class from the Hunter College School of Social Work
and attended the Graduate School of Public Administration at New York
University (MPA Program)
Reb Yankel attended Aish HaTorah and Ohr Somayach
Yeshivas in Israel. He was one of only 36 individuals to be granted rabbinic
ordination by the legendary Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. He holds a second
ordination from the last living disciple of the Chofetz Chaim, the former
leader of world Jewry, Rabbi Boruch HaLevi Leizerowski, Chief Rabbi of the
Rabbinic Alliance of America, (Igud HaRabbonim).
